Dance Classes & Info

Special competition and performance classes for intermediate and advanced students (Dancecrew).

Classes

  • Pre-2nd grade combination: ballet, tap and tumbling
  • 3rd-12th grade combination: ballet, tap and jazz
  • Lyrical, ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, tumbling and baton are also taught not in combination. Special competition and performance classes for intermediate and advanced students (Dancecrew).

Uniforms

All students must wear a leotard or unitard to class. Shirts and shorts cannot be worn over leotards. Pre-school, kindergarten, and grades 1 and 2 students wear cobalt blue long sleeve scoop neck Danskin leotards. Older students may wear the color of their choice, but black is preferred. Jazz pants cannot be worn in ballet class, although they may be worn in tap and jazz classes. All levels must wear suntan and/or theatrical pink tights. These tights should be seamless and without shimmer.

Lyrical, ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, tumbling, and baton are also taught.

Shoes

  • Black jazz slip-on shoes with elastic insets, no laces
  • Black patent tap shoe with ribbon tie for pre-school, kindergarten and grades one and two
  • Black tap slip-on oxford for other classes
  • Lyrical dance paws
  • Pink ballet shoes with elastic sewn across the instep with the ribbon tucked inside the shoe
  • *Other colors or styles may be needed for competition or recital.

Holidays

Classes begin the day after Labor Day and continue through May. Holidays include Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Mardi Gras. Notices are sent out during the year with the specific dates and holidays. These are also listed in the payment book.

Older students may wear the color of their choice, but black is preferred.

Reminders

  • Students are not allowed to take class if dressed inappropriately. Refer to uniform requirements.
  • No gum is allowed in the studio.
  • No climbing or hanging on barres; this could result in injury.
  • No hands or feet on mirrors. Mirrors need to be clean to be used as they are intended as teaching and learning aids.
  • Please do not drop off your children at the studio unless they are there for a class.
  • Please supervise your children while they are at the studio. They do not belong on the mats or in a studio unless they are there for class.
  • Come to class properly attired and with the correct shoes. Jewelry and oversized clothing are inappropriate. Hair should be secured out of your face and eyes.
  • To study pointe, a student must be at least 10 years old with three years of ballet training.
  • Ballet is required for all lower level students.
  • To study jazz, a student must be in the 3rd grade or at an equivalent level of dance ability.
  • Please pick up children promptly when classes have ended.
